PROMOTE LOCAL BUSINESSES. Traditionally, all Chambers promote the business community that they serve. This is done through web sites, membership directories, business fairs and a variety of other promotional activities. Here in Greene County, one of our biggest problems is that our citizens don’t support their own local businesses as much as they could. The Chamber can help solve this problem which will keep more money in the County and increase sales tax revenue.
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT. This is one of the most important roles of the Chamber. Chambers of Commerce make their communities better places to live and work. One vital way of doing this is to attract commercial businesses to provide better and more complete services to our citizens. These efforts make our County a better place to live and serve to increase the tax base and again, sales tax revenues.
DOWNTOWN REVITALIZATION. The Chamber will work closely with all three municipalities to revitalize and develop our downtown districts. This is vital to both the Towns and the County to restore the tax base we have already lost over the past 20+ years.
INDUSTRIAL RECRUITMENT. Although Chambers are not normally involved in industrial recruitment, the Chamber can serve as a vital source of information for new industrial clients interested in Greene County. Additionally, the Chamber will demonstrate a viable business community to outside interested parties and a certain level of sophistication. The Chamber projects a “pro-business” environment in the community.
MARKETING GREENE COUNTY. When open, the Chamber will be a one-stop-shop for information about Greene County to include businesses and amenities. We will be the best source for statistical and demographic information that is important to business considering relocation or expansion into this County. The Chamber will develop a new marketing strategy for our County to design an entirely new promotion and welcome package.
AN ACTIVE DEVELOPMENT PARTNER. The Chamber is not intended to replace the County development program or the Committee of 100. Instead, we propose to be another resource to both programs. However, the Chamber can and will, work with the Committee of 100 and County when appropriate.
CHAMBER PROJECTS. The Chamber has already undertaken and committed resources to a number of community projects that include, but are not limited to the following:
